Prelude to the common market? A historical budget

This essay tries to value the OECE’s role in the establishment of a great european market. According to Alan Milward – who point out that the establishment of OECE contributed to the development of economic integration in an “unfavourable” way (offering to european nations the chance to organize a reaction to the american vision of a great and integrated market based on the principles of liberalism) this essay therefore analyze the steps which carried to Free-trade, which has been the main goal of this organization. That analysis infer that, paradoxically, the failures in the removal of contingents pheraps represent the more meaningful contribution of OECE in the process of european integration.
